India: Four Muslims arrested for plotting jihad massacres in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh

Pope Francis and George W. Bush and John Kerry are doubtless on his way to India now to explain to these youthful misunderstanders of Islam that true Islam and the proper understanding of the Qur’an reject every form of violence. There is never any shortage of non-Muslim authorities ready to preach such a thing. Finding Muslims to do it is tougher.

In a joint operation involving the police of six states, four youths aged between 19 and 25 years were arrested on Thursday for allegedly conspiring to orchestrate terror strikes in Delhi and UP. At least eight others have been detained. Six of them were being interrogated by the UP Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) at an unidentified location in Noida at the time of going to press.

Two youths were detained in Maharashtra. The arrests were made from Bijnore (UP), Mumbra (Maharashtra), Jalandhar (Punjab) and East Champaran (Bihar). All four of them were allegedly self-radicalized and had made plans to procure weapons for the terror strikes. They were in touch with each other through the encrypted chat platform Telegram. Agencies are trying to extract information from the suspects’ cellphones and laptops….

Maharashtra ATS said the group’s leader, Umar, alias Nazim (26), a native of Bijnore district who works in Mumbai, had taken charge of the cell after the NIA arrested Mudabbir Shaikh from Mumbra last year. Nizam was radicalising the group and arranging funds. Other members have been identified as Gazi Baba, alias Muzammil, a native of Unnao who works in Jalandhar, Ahtesham from East Champaran and Faizan, alias Mufti, from Bijnor.
