Israeli security forces recently thwarted an attempt to smuggle drones into the Gaza Strip, the Shin Bet announced Sunday.
The unmanned aerial vehicles were intended to be used by terror groups in Gaza, according to Shin Bet.
Members of Israel’s Defense Ministry’s Border Authority at the Kerem Shalom crossing stopped an Israeli truck carrying a shipment of toys.
While inspecting the truck’s cargo, the Border Authority officers found a number of drones of different models and sizes, equipped with high quality cameras that the Shin Bet suspects were intended to be used by terror groups to collect intelligence on IDF forces.
The Shin Bet said this was the latest of a number of attempts to smuggle drones through the Kerem Shalom crossing into Gaza in recent weeks.
As has been the case in the past, authorities confiscated the shipment and launched an investigation to find those responsible for the drone-smuggling attempts.
